Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how ScreenQue handles your data. ScreenQue consists of the ScreenQue apps for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and tvOS (the “App”) and the website at screenque.app (the “Website”). ScreenQue is operated by Patrick Diezi / KREANIQS (“I”, “me”, “my”).
ScreenQue was built privacy-first: there is no account, no signup, and no ScreenQue server that stores your data.
2. The Short Version
- Your watch history, watchlist, ratings, notes, tags, and lists are stored locally on your device. I never see them.
- If you enable iCloud sync, your data syncs through your own iCloud account (Apple’s private CloudKit database). Apple hosts that data under your Apple ID; I have no access to it.
- The App uses privacy-respecting product analytics (PostHog, hosted in the EU) to understand which features are used. It never logs what you watch, and you can opt out completely in Settings.
- The Website sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Its only third party is the Upvoty feedback widget (see §6).
- There are no accounts, no advertising, and no sale or sharing of personal data.
3. The App: Local-First by Design
3.1 Your Tracking Data
Everything you track — watchlist, watch history, episode progress, ratings, reactions, notes (including their context fields), tags, hidden titles, and personal lists — is stored in a local database on your device. There is no ScreenQue cloud; none of this data is transmitted to me.
3.2 iCloud Sync
With iCloud sync enabled, your tracking data is replicated through Apple’s CloudKit service into the private iCloud database belonging to your Apple ID. Sync covers all four apps: iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV. This data is stored and secured by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy and your iCloud settings. It is not readable by me — technically or otherwise. Disabling iCloud for ScreenQue keeps everything purely local.
3.3 Content Metadata (TMDB and JustWatch)
Movie and TV metadata — titles, posters, cast, ratings, air dates — is fetched from The Movie Database (TMDB). When the App loads such metadata, your device contacts TMDB’s servers directly; like any web request, this transmits technical connection data such as your IP address to TMDB under the TMDB privacy policy. Requests contain only the title being looked up — never your library, history, or identity. Where-to-watch availability shown in the App comes from JustWatch data provided through TMDB. Streaming deep links, where available, use the Movie of the Night Streaming Availability API in the same title-lookup-only fashion.
3.4 Product Analytics (PostHog, EU-Hosted, Opt-Out)
To understand which features are actually used, the App sends anonymous usage events to PostHog, hosted in the European Union. Strict rules apply: no names, no email addresses, no tokens, and no content titles — the analytics can see that a note was created, never what it says or what it is about. You can disable analytics entirely in Settings at any time, and the App respects that immediately.
3.5 Notifications
Episode air-date and movie release notifications are scheduled locally on your device. No notification data leaves it.
3.6 Configuration Service
On launch, the App fetches its API configuration (such as metadata service credentials) from my configuration endpoint at api.screenque.app, delivered via Cloudflare. This request transmits standard technical connection data (such as your IP address) and returns configuration only — it carries none of your content or tracking data, and I do not log or profile these requests.
4. What I Never Receive
I have no ScreenQue server holding user data and receive none of it: no watch history, no ratings, no notes, no lists, no identifiers linking any of it to you. Data you import (for example a Trakt export or Letterboxd diary) is processed entirely on your device and stays there.
5. Trial and App Store Purchases
ScreenQue is free to download and includes a 60-day full-featured trial. The trial start date is stored in your device’s system keychain so that reinstalling does not reset it, and it is mirrored to iCloud key-value storage in your own private iCloud account so that the trial follows you rather than restarting on each device. Where your devices disagree, the earliest recorded start governs; the mirrored value can only move the start earlier, never later. It goes to your private iCloud container and to no server of mine: it is never transmitted to me, and I hold no identifier that could link it to you. After the trial, the App is unlocked through Apple’s App Store as an auto-renewing subscription (monthly or yearly) or a one-time lifetime purchase. Payments are processed entirely by Apple; I never receive your payment details, name, or address — only aggregated, anonymized sales statistics.
6. The Website
The Website is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies and uses no analytics. The Website is delivered by Cloudflare, my hosting provider; as with any web host, Cloudflare transiently processes technical connection data (such as your IP address) to deliver the pages and protect against abuse. I do not receive or retain this data, and I run no server-side code that could log it.
6.1 Feedback Widget (Upvoty)
Every page of the Website loads the feedback widget of Upvoty, the third-party service behind the “Leave Feedback” button and the board embedded on the feedback page. On page load, your browser fetches the widget script from Upvoty (app.upvoty.com) and its configuration from Upvoty’s API (core-api.upvotyfeedback.com); like any web request, this transmits technical connection data such as your IP address to Upvoty under the Upvoty privacy policy. Measured as of August 8, 2026: the widget sets no cookies and stores no data in your browser on screenque.app.
The feedback board itself runs inside an embedded frame served from feedback-portal.screenque.app, hosted by Upvoty. Within that frame, Upvoty loads assets from its own infrastructure (Amazon Web Services, Google Fonts, the Iconify icon API) and keeps a guest session token in the frame’s local storage. Browsing the board requires no account. Posting, commenting, or voting requires signing in with an email address or a Google account; what you submit — your post and that sign-in email — is transmitted to and stored by Upvoty, not by me. The sign-in step is protected by Google reCAPTCHA, to which Google’s privacy policy applies. If you prefer not to use the board, email works as always: support@screenque.app.
7. Your Rights
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP), you have rights to access, correct, delete, and port personal data. Because I do not collect or hold personal data about you, there is normally nothing for me to act on — your data is on your device and in your own iCloud, fully under your control, and exportable in the App as JSON or CSV at any time. If you believe I hold personal data about you (for example, from an email you sent me), contact me and I will resolve it promptly.
8. Children
ScreenQue does not collect data from anyone, including children. The App and Website are not directed at children under 13.
9. Changes to This Policy
If ScreenQue ever adds features that touch data differently, I will update this policy first and change the “Last Updated” date. Material changes will be highlighted on the Website.

Version History
- Version 1.3 — August 29, 2026: Correction to a published document: §5 previously described the trial start date as stored only on the device. It is also mirrored to iCloud key-value storage in your own private iCloud account, with the earliest recorded start governing across your devices. The value still never reaches me.
- Version 1.2 — August 13, 2026: App 1.0 moves to a paid model: §5 documents the 60-day trial and its locally stored start date; §3.2 drops the Premium framing and extends iCloud sync to Apple TV; §2 and §3.3 updated to match.
- Version 1.1 — August 8, 2026: §6 rewritten with the measured behavior of the Upvoty feedback widget and embedded board.
- Version 1.0 — August 5, 2026: Initial release (Website and App v1.0).
